How to have a stress-free Christmas

It might be the most wonderful time of the year, but often it can be one of the most stressful too, especially if you are hosting family or have a long journey to make. Here are a few ways to ensure this festive season isn’t a stressful season.

Plan ahead

Whether it’s buying presents, preparing Christmas lunch or making social plans, being organised can save you a lot of stress. Ahead of the big day itself, make a list of everything you need to do, from peeling the potatoes to picking up family members, and do as much preparation as you can beforehand to save time on Christmas day.

Ask for help

If you have offered to play host this year, don’t be afraid to ask your guests for help to make things run more smoothly. And if you are visiting friends or family, offer to pitch in with making lunch or entertaining the younger guests to ensure that Christmas Day is less stressful for all.

Make time for exercise

It can be difficult to find a spare moment between shopping, wrapping, cooking and celebrating, but your mind and body will thank you for making time to get active.

Something as simple as a brisk 30 minute walk will do wonders for your stress levels, and you can get friends and family involved too so everyone works off some of those Christmas calories.

Get an early night

From office parties to late-night present wrapping sessions, Christmas can be the season of little sleep. Look after your health by getting an early night to give your mind and body time to rest and to ensure you have plenty of energy for the festivities.

Plan some healthier meals

To stay healthy throughout December, remember that fruit and veg contain lots of vitamins and minerals that your mind needs to stay stress-free. Try to eat a balanced diet where possible and make healthier choices when eating out to minimise any extra calories.

Stock up your medicine cabinet

From remedies for trapped wind like WindAway, to supplements like RelaxOn which you can take at bedtime after a stressful day, there are a few essentials that are good to have around during the festive season.

Make a list of supplements you might need over the Christmas period and order early to ensure your medicine cabinet is well-stocked.
